Welcome to Prime Video Recaps, where I recap some of our favorite Prime Video original titles. Today, I'm here to remind you of what happened in season one of Carnival Row, a foreign fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were once invaded by the empires of man.
In this growing population struggling to coexist with humans, forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom, we follow the story of a human detective, Rycroft Philistry, and a refugee fairy named Vignette Stonemoss. Despite an increasingly intolerant society, Vignette and Philo rekindle a dangerous affair, but Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo's world during his most important case yet.
As a string of gruesome murders threatens the fragile peace of Carnival Row, Philo must find the killer while navigating the complex politics of the Republic of the Burg. Meanwhile, Vignette tries to find her place in this new world while searching for her lost love.
Throughout the season, we see the characters' histories unfold, revealing the events that led them to Carnival Row. We learn about the war between the empires of man and the homeland of the Fey, the political tensions between those who want the Fey to leave and those who want to find a way to coexist.
As the season comes to a close, Philo discovers the truth about his past and his connection to the murders. Vignette is arrested, and Philo is accused of murder, leaving their fates uncertain.
Season two of Carnival Row will premiere on Prime Video on February 17th. Until then, catch up on season one and get ready for the next chapter in the story of Carnival Row.
